Junk Car

Got a Junk Car? Here are 6 Ideas to Make the Most of It.

If you happen to have a few junk cars sitting in your garage, your friends and family probably badger you about selling them on a regular basis.

The barrage of pleas can get pretty annoying, especially if you’ve been devising a master plan that may not involve selling your rickety old automobiles.

After all, selling unusable cars is far from the only thing you can do with them.

Not that many people actually have the time to figure out just what some of these things are.

That said, we’ve put together a list of 6 ways in which you can repurpose your old vehicle:

1. Sell It

While we’ve been pretty clear about the fact that you don’t have to sell your junk cars, we’re not so crazy as to think that people don’t fall on hard times.

Simply put, not everyone lives a life posh enough to have the luxury of turning their old cars into art projects.

Though you won’t get a hefty sum of cash for your junk car, the money can definitely help you feed your family or pay a bill, if only for a short while.

2. Scrap It

Although you probably won’t get much utility out of scrapping your car if you’re someone who knows little to nothing about the value of a car’s individual parts, scrapping it is still worth a try.

You can certainly get each individual piece appraised and obtain some quick pocket money.

Or just keep the parts and save them for another occasion. You never know when you’re going to need some spare parts.

3. Donate It

Sometimes the humanitarian in us comes out and we are suddenly filled with the urge to do good things for less fortunate people.

As it turns out, however, donating a car isn’t an entirely selfless act; you might just get a tax deduction for doing so.

In order to claim the deduction, you just have to make sure that your charity of choice meets certain requirements.

The same happens to apply if you actually care about whether or not your car betters someone’s life.

4. Trade It

If you’re not in much of a giving mood but don’t necessarily want to sell your car, look into trading it.

While you won’t be able to get a new car out of the deal, you’ll at least have the chance of walking away with a functioning car that will get you from point A to B.

Not only that, but trading in your car will save you a lot more money than purchasing a shiny new one will.

5. Give It Away

So you won’t get a tax deduction for just giving away your junk cars.

That said, there are always people out there who can make better use of the scraps than you.

Of course, the assumption here is that you aren’t at all interested in being compensated for your old automobiles.

6. Or Turn Your Junk Cars Into A Work of Art

You’re not going to get any cash in return for turning old cars into vehicular Mona Lisas. Still, an artist lives in all of us, and we have a right to feed it.

And there are a ton of ways to feed it.

You could simply paint the car and turn it into a groovy Mystery Machine that you can put on display in your backyard, or you could turn it into a fish bowl. The choice is yours.

Conclusion

In the end, you probably won’t end up taking the time to turn your car into an art project or going through the long donation process.

The seeds, though, have been planted, so there is always hope.

Or not. We can dream.
